Special cleaning campaign in Pashupati area

The Pashupatinath premises, which is listed in the World Heritage List, has been cleaned on Saturday as part of the Clean Pashupati Campaign.

The campaign to make Pashupati area clean to develop it as a pilgrimage site of Vedic Sanatan Dharma and a destination of other religions spread all over the world was started from the first week of last September. Dr. Shyam Khadka, the coordinator of the Pashupati Sanitation Campaign, said that artists, social activists and honorary consul general of Maryland USA Prem Raja Mahat, protagonist Shiva Shrestha, member secretary of Pashupati Area Development Fund Dr. Milan Kumar Thapal and other activists were active in Saturday's cleanup.

During the cleanup, rotten and non-rotted garbage accumulated in Pashupati area was sorted and managed. It is said that the garbage collected from the cleanup was sent to the vehicle of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. A special cleaning campaign has been started in the Pashupati area every Saturday since the first week of September. There is special participation of artists in cleaning.

During the cleanup, tea bags made from 48 types of herbs including Gurjo were also distributed free of cost. During the clean-up, Kamal Bahadur Rajalwat, a Gurjo campaigner and head of the Inland Revenue Office, Dhulikhel, also drank tea made from Gurjo. It is said that artist Mahat even took a packet of Gurjo tea to America. He said that even in the United States, the demand for herbal teas and medicines has increased.

Ayurvedic doctors say that Gurjo tea, which develops immunity in the body, also works as a medicine for many diseases including gastritis. Ayurveda doctor Dr. Vanshdeep Sharma Kharel said that many herbs work as medicine.
