Minister of State for Health and Population, Dr. Toshima Karki, has said preparation was on to propose an increased budget in the health sector.
At an interaction organized here Friday, Minister of State Karki shared that the proposal of the increasing budget would be tabled as the health financing strategy. Saying a large investment was needed in the health sector, she viewed, “Budget allocated for the health sector is insufficient.”
Only 5.75 percent budget was allocated for the Ministry of Health and Population, she mentioned, adding that the budget was insufficient. An integrated ambulance action plan had been forwarded to make the emergency health service effective across the nation. “As per the action plan, we are working to provide the ambulance service soon after making contact through the hotline in any place”, State Minister Karki shared.
Dr. Karki further said she was committed to the demands put forth by Dr. Govinda KC for the reform of health and medical education.
