Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has directed to make safe printing of excise stickers in Nepal. While inspecting the security printing press being connected to the IT park at Panauti in Kavre today, he directed the security printing center to provide the required stickers to the Ministry of Finance immediately.
"We need about three billion peace stickers. How many such machines are needed to print those three billion stickers, I request to bring them immediately and connect them, ”said Minister Sharma.“ At least provide the required stickers to the Ministry of Finance. ” He directed the ministry to make arrangements to print the required number of stickers within a period of one year.
Stating that he has been informed that the state-of-the-art machine that is being connected will do all kinds of printing except banknotes, he mentioned that it has a big market. He said that it could get jobs in various sectors including banking, transport, and land revenue.
Explaining that he saw only profit in the security printing press, Minister Sharma said that the government would not hesitate to invest in it.
"It's a big business, so investing in it is for profit," he said. I don't think the government should be reluctant to invest in a place where there is only profit. ” He pointed out the need to print safe stickers in Nepal that would not be stolen under any circumstances and would not be allowed to make fake stickers.
He expressed the belief that the revenue leakage of billions could be controlled through this. "Printing here not only benefits billions but also generate billions in revenue. At present, the ministry is collecting revenue of around Rs 100 billion from excise stickers, ”he said.“ Such stickers also help in maintaining good governance. ”
Similarly, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Umesh Shrestha said that the Security Printing Center could be one of the exemplary institutions run by the state. "Let it serve as a model," he said.
Currently, sticker printing is being done by Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra. According to Shobha Kant Poudel, Director General of the Inland Revenue Department, Janak Shiksha has been printing stickers for around Rs 220 million for the last two years. Earlier, stickers were being printed through 'Global Tender'.
