Twelve buffaloes that were stolen by Indian thieves from Nepal and taken to their country have been returned back. The buffaloes were stolen from Beldandi rural municipality-5 in Nepal and taken to the Tatargunj Gram-Panchayat of India, some eight kilometers from the Nepali border.
Soon after being informed about the theft of the buffaloes, a 10-member team led by Armed Police Inspector Yogendra Bhandari from the Jhilimila border outpost, another three-member team led by Sub-inspector of Nepal Police from Jhimila Ram Bahadur Bohara and the buffalo owners went to India and returned back the stolen buffaloes with the help of Indian security persons, said Superintendent of Police of Armed Police Force at Saileswari Birendra Aiyer.
A group of five Indians had reportedly stolen the buffaloes from near the Shuklaphanta National Park, as 17-year-old Arun Upadhyaya was herding them. They threatened Arun and took away from buffaloes.
The buffaloes belong to Arun's father Shanker Thapa, Nawaraj Kathayat, Goma Rawat, Chandra Bahadur Rawat, and Tej Bahadur Rawat. One among the stolen buffaloes could not be found, as the thieves escaped, police said.
The buffaloes were returned back to their rightful owners.
