Uma Chaudhary, who had been living in a forest after being dumped by her husband, has been rescued.
Safe House operated by the local government has rescued her from the Basanta community forest area at Kaluwapur of Shuklaphanta Municipality-11 in the district where she had been living in a small hut for the past two months after her husband left her stranded. The House extended its helping hand after coming to know about the situation of the woman through a news report entitled 'woman stranded in a forest for past two months' carried by Rashtriya Samachar Samiti.
"We came to the aid of the woman after being informed about her situation. We have made arrangements for the woman to be kept safely in a shelter run by another donor agency as the House provides only emergency service," said Pushpa KC, an office-bearer of the House board of directors.
The rescued woman needs counseling as she is battling depression at present, she said.
Chaudhary of Kunda in Belauri Municipality was thrashed time and again and left stranded in a forest by her husband. Without food to eat, she had been begging for survival.
Seeing her miserable condition in a poorly built hut, the ward chair Dil Bahadur Buda later managed her accommodation in a hut in a temple near the forest being used by a sadhu.
