The Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee has formed a subcommittee to discuss the bill related to the transitional justice. A committee meeting today formed an 11-member subcommittee.
Members of the subcommittee are lawmakers Subas Chandra Nembang, Mahesh Kumar Bartaula, Ramesh Lekhak, Jiban Pariyar, Sushila Thing, Santosh Pariyar, Goma Lav (Sapkota), Purna Bahadur Gharti, Ranju Kumari Jha, Dhurba Bahadur Pradhan, and Sher Bahadur Kunwar, said Mangal Prasad Gupta, the senior most member of the committee.
Gupta has directed the subcommittee to hold a deliberation on the Bill among those lawmakers who have proposed an amendment to the bill and stakeholders, and submit a report to the committee within three weeks of the beginning of the task.
The bill to amend the Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act was registered on 9 March, 2023.
Lekhak had proposed the formation of a subcommittee to conclude the bill.
Meanwhile, Nembang in the meeting stressed the need for all to come together to conclude the bill.
