Sudurpaschim to provide monetary support to burn survivor

The Sudurpaschim Province government has decided to provide monetary support worth Rs 200,000 to Laxmi Bhatt of Doti district for her treatment. Bhatt who hails from Adarsha Rural Municipality-4 had survived her husband allegedly attempted to burn her down on May 12 by pouring kerosene.

She was airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment and is undergoing treatment at the Burn Hospital at Kirtipur.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers of the provincial government today took the decision to provide monetary support to Bhatt, shared spokesperson and Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Purna Joshi.

Likewise, federal government has also announced to bear all treatment expenses of Bhatta. Bhatta is currently out of danger, informed Dr Prakiti Gyawali and Dr Surendra Basnet who are attending to the survivor.

Meanwhile, National Women Commission Chairperson Kamala Kumari Parajuli has reached out to the survivor at Hospital and taken stock of her health.

During the visit, survivor Bhatt demanded life sentence to the alleged culprit, her husband Sanotsh Bhatt. The alleged culprit has absconded following the incident.

The 28-year-old survivor and her daughter are undergoing treatment at the Hospital. Minister for Forest and Environment Prem Kumar Ale had taken the lead to airlift the survivors to Kathmandu on last Tuesday for further treatment.

Chairperson Parajuli shared that she had already talked to the chief district officer of Doti and District Police Office chief in the district regarding the incident and has urged them to identify the culprit and bring the culprit to justice at the earliest.
