Talks team to address demands of Tharuhat Movement

The Government has formed a three-member talks team led by Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa to address the demands raised by the Tharuhat Movement.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung in a press meet here today shared that the talks team has been tasked with addressing various 19-points demands put forth by Tharu Welfare Assembly (Sabha), Tharuhat-Tharuwan Joint Struggle Committee and Central Joint Mobilization Committee Adnolan Parichalan Samiti.

The two other members in the talk team are Prime Minister’s press advisor on foreign affairs Dr Rajan Bhattarai and former parliamentarian Bhagawati Chaudhary, said Minister Gurung.

Stating that the incumbent government had taken forward the ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’ campaign by ending the violent activities, he said that the talks team would spring into action from today itself.

He opined that the government had forwarded the development projects despite the political hurdles and was working to complete the national pride projects within the stipulated time.

The list of demands by Tharuhat Movement includes release of Resham Chaudharym, currently in jail on murder charges. Minister Thapa had reached Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu few days ago and had pledged to fulfill the demands of Tharuhat Movement through talks.
