Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Bishnu Poudel, has requested the European Union to support Nepal, which has been working with high priority in the environment protection sector.
At a program organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal here on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Poudel urged the EU to support environmental protection and favor the socio-economic transformation of the Nepali people.
He expressed the belief that Nepal would get continuous support from the EU in the sector of agriculture, education, health, tourism, and hydropower in the days to come. "Nepal is always committed to environmental protection and conservation. Nepal looks forward to maximum support from the world community including the EU as it has been affected by climate change even though it has a negligible role in carbon emission and environmental destruction," he said.
Inaugurating the Team Europe Programme for Green Recovery, European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, said the programs implemented in Nepal in the sector of sustainable development including environment protection, health, education, hydropower, agriculture, and empowerment are satisfactory.
She said the support provided to Nepal for Team Europe for Green Recovery, launched in 2021, would be increased to 300 million Euros in 2024 from 200 million Euros.
