The peace process will be completed: DPM Shrestha

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha has said that there is an all-round attack on political achievements. Addressing the General Assembly of the Press Center Nepal Valley Province Committee today, he said that the attack on achievement is increasing from one angle or another.

Emphasizing that the political parties should be more careful to defeat the regression, he said that it is now necessary to protect the achievements of the people's struggle. "Tendencies to formally take away the achievements of the constitution or to violate the provisions of the constitution have appeared", he said, "We fought against such tendencies and defeated them."

He said that the responsibility of completing the rest of the peace process rests on the shoulders of the current government. He said that the rest of the peace process can be completed only by completing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Inquiry into Disappearances.

"The remaining work of the peace process must be completed in any case. More than a decade has passed, but we have not been able to complete that work. It has been seven years since the promulgation of the constitution. Various efforts are being made to prevent the completion of the peace process. By failing such efforts, the peace process will be completed as a whole. ", he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha said that the main task of the current government is to protect national sovereignty, geographical integrity, self-respect and independence and strengthen national security. He says that the immediate task is to make the country economically and socially prosperous.

Maheshwar Dahal, in-charge of the press center, said that the center has been raising its voice for the benefit of working journalists. Mentioning that the situation of working journalists is now serious, he said that the government should take action to fulfill the obligations of working journalists. "Government advertisements should be distributed through a one-door system, the state has six billion rupees of advertisements, it is in the hands of middlemen, the media will survive only if the government manages it", he said.
