Local residents were shocked after a tiger attacked and killed 21 goats in Kuine village of Mohanyal rural municipality-7 in the Chure hill area of Kailali on Monday evening.
Kamal Bahadur Saud, the vice chairman of the rural municipality resident of the same ward, said that after the incident where the goats were taken to graze in the Kalika community forest area, which is near the village, the local residents were terrified. "We have asked the villagers, who were frightened after the goat was killed by a tiger with two cubs, to stay safe and not to walk alone in the forest area", Vice President Saud said, "We are preparing to provide all possible relief to the farmers who suffered losses due to the death of the goat."
After killing a large number of goats at the same time, the villagers are afraid that tigers may enter the village. According to the District Police Office, six Khasi and four goats belonging to local resident Dharmaraj Mizar, four goats and four goats belonging to Naveen Baduwal, two goats belonging to Bitala, and one goat belonging to Savitra Baduwal were mauled by a tiger.
Yogendra Chand, a local resident, said that a tiger with a cub (damaru) had eaten three goats reared by the local residents just a week ago in Andaiya area of Kailali. Chand said that after that incident, it was difficult to walk alone to cut grass in the forest area. It is said that the number of wild animals including tigers is increasing in the forest area in recent years.
