Time for entrepreneurship: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said it is time for entrepreneurship. PM Dahal said it while addressing the third convocation ceremony of the Agriculture and Forestry University here Thursday.

Innovative technology should be developed with extensive research so that production and productivity would enhance in the country, PM Dahal said, adding that livelihood of farmers must be elevated with the technology developed by the universities.

He expressed happiness over the technology developed by the scientists at university that they were able to ensure artificial insemination in buffalo, heat resilient wheat and production of chilapiya species of fish. PM Dahal reminded that till six decades back, Nepal was self-reliant on organic farming and used to export hugely, but it is worrying now. "How did we come to the present stage of huge import? Where are mistakes and gaps? The scientists need to find the facts," the PM observed.

Moreover, PM Dahal shared that the Agriculture and Forestry University had expanded its constituent campuses in all seven provinces. The university will have further expansion in the days ahead, he expected.

According to the PM, the graduated students will have significant contributions to the agriculture sector in Nepal.

Vice Chancellor of YS Parmer University of Horticulture and Forestry, Prof Dr Rajeshwor Singh Chandal, also addressed the ceremony.

A total of 1,085 students from the academic year 2072/73 till the recent academic year attended the graduation. They were the students of Bachelor, Master, and PhD degrees.
