Tourism Minister: Nepal should not be in EU flight safety list

Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Jeevan Ram Shrestha said that the European Union (EU) should not put Nepal in the flight safety list.

During the courtesy meeting of Adam Burakowski, the non-resident ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Nepal, with Tourism Minister Shrestha at the ministry today, he said that the EU should not put the Nepali aviation sector on the security list when the International Aviation Organization (ICAO) has already lifted the ban.

According to his private secretariat, Minister Shrestha emphasized that the Nepali aviation sector should arrange direct flights to Europe when the safety index of ICAO has confirmed that Nepali Akash and Air Service Company are safe.

During the meeting, they discussed the relationship between Nepal and Poland, mutual interests and interests.

Minister Shrestha discussed that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Poland, there has been a harmonious relationship and emphasized on the need to make it more friendly. He said that Polish people are interested in mountain climbing and Nepal is an attractive destination for that.

Minister Shrestha informed that after the corona virus epidemic, Nepal has now started a program of facilities and concessions for tourists according to the action plan for tourism revival. There was also a discussion between them about Nepalis going to Poland for higher studies and employment and simplifying the visa and travel process of the Polish people in Nepal.

Ambassador Burakowski informed that the memorial program of Polish citizen Wanda Rutkiewicz, who disappeared while climbing Kanchenjunga in 1992, will be held in Nepal next October. Rutkiewicz is the first female climber from Europe to climb Mount Everest and Mount Ketu. During the meeting, they discussed ways to promote Nepal's tourism. Acting Secretary of the Ministry Vuddhisagar Lamichhane, Director General of Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Pradeep Adhikari and Consul General of the Republic of Poland for Nepal Lokmanya Golchha participated in the meeting.
