Two die in separate incidents in Saptari

A child drowned in a pond while taking a bath in Mahadewa Rural Municipality-2 in Saptari district.

The deceased has been identified as Apekshya Kumari Mandal (5), daughter of Anil Mandal, informed District Police Office, Saptari.

She had gone to the pond which is close to her house with her relatives to bathe. She slipped and fell into the pond and when she was brought out of the pond she was unconscious.

She died while being taken to Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital for treatment, informed DSP Madhav Prasad Kafle of District Police Office. The postmortem of the deceased girl was done at the Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital.

Similarly, a youth was killed in a road accident in the Bodebarsain-Bisanpur road section in Khadak Municipality-8 in Saptari district.

The deceased has been identified as Anil Chaudhary (22), son of Bauwalal Chaudhary, a local resident of the same municipality in Saptari district. Anil died at 10 pm on Monday.

The victim was riding a motorcycle with an 'ON TEST' registration plate and was heading towards Bodebarsain Bazar from Bisanpur when he was hit by a tractor with vehicle registration number SA 1 TA 2726.

Anil was taken to Lahan-based Ramprasad Sharada Umaprasad Hospital by Saptari-based Area Police Office for treatment.

The tractor driver has been arrested and further investigation into the case is underway, said Inspector Birendra Paswan of the Kadarbona Area Police Office.
