The major opposition CPN UML has demanded the government that it ensures peace and security in the country. Organizing a press conference at party headquarters, Lalitpur, on Friday, the UML drew the government's attention on recent incidents in the country, which warrants better security.
Deputy General Secretary of the party, Bishnu Rimal, viewed, "It is worrying to have a fragile peace and security situation, attack on chief leaders, and a weak economy." He showed concern over the recent intimidation to party Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Vice Chairman Subash Chandra Nembang in different parts of Koshi Province.
Although expressing disagreement and objection to any issue is not worrying, the party is seriously concerned over the way its top leaders were obstructed during the movement, Rimal said, expressing wonder where the country would go if a chief of a political party is made to manage his security himself.
On the occasion, UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai also reiterated that peaceful protest is welcome but attack on the top leader of any party is deplorable.
He further informed that UML respects the rights of people to disagree on naming Koshi Province, but the style adopted to oppose draws concern.
