Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Devendra Poudel, has said citizen's right to receive quality education within country must be established. Time has come to make universities centres of specialization, he added.
Minister Poudel said it while inaugurating an 'environment building' of the Kathmandu University at Dhulikhel, Kavre on Sunday. The building was constructed with the assistance of University Grants Commission.
Kathmandu University had become a special university in terms of technical education, the Minister viewed.
According to him, universities should create atmosphere conducive to provide the education students want to pursue within the country at the present time of globalization. "Universities should produce the human resources that the State aspires to have," he underscored, adding that only addition in number of university is meaningless.
Minister Poudel however reminded that even the province had the rights to set up university.
On the occasion, Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University, Prof Dr Bhola Thapa, said the government policy and programme had introduced a new programme for the Kathmandu University, which he claimed, would contribute to Nepal's development model.
Dr Bikas Adhikari from Department of Environment Science and Engineering informed that environment building was constructed at the cost of Rs 31 million the University Grants Commission provided.
