The condition of Ganga BK of Kohalpur Municipality-2 who was severely injured after her spouse allegedly set her on fire is stable.

According to the hospital where she is receiving medical care following the incident, around 20 percent of her body parts, including her face and limbs have burned. She is receiving ICU care at the Bheri Hospital.

“We are worried whether burns cause breathing complications on her,” said Hospital medical superintendent Dr. Badri Chapagain. Her condition is stable and the loss of her son in the fire causes her mental trauma, it is said.

Bhanubhakta BK of Kohalpur Municipality-1 allegedly poured petrol on Ganga and their son. The son succumbed to the burns while undergoing treatment.

As she said, the incident happened when she along with her son was about to leave for her parents’ home after Bhanubhakta locked her inside the room and physically assaulted her. She said she felt so sorry to think that she could not save the child. “I wish he only harmed me, I could not save my child,” she moaned.

Bhanubhakta who migrated from Kalikot to Shaktinagar of Kohalpur-2 was involved in the carpet trade. She informed me that the husband used to quarrel and beat her daily.

He had absconded after setting the spouse and son on fire.

Deputy Superintendent of Police at Area Police Office, Kohalpur, Ain Bahadur Malla, said police had initiated an investigation on him by taking him under control from the area bordering India.
