The Morang Trade Association has drawn the attention of the concerned bodies about the impractical charges/fines levied on the vehicles carrying goods for industrial purposes.
Officials including the association's president Navin Rijal have met the district administration office Morang, Sunsari, and police chiefs and handed over the letter.
Chairman Rijal said that some bodies in Morang and Sunsari were collecting fees/fines under various headings while returning cargo vehicles entering from India for the Morang-Sunsari Industrial Corridor. He added that Indian vehicles entering Nepal through the Biratnagar border for industrial purposes are currently forced to re-route for the Bhimnagar-Bhantabari border due to the dilapidated Mirgunj bridge on the Farvisgunj-Jogbani-Biratnagar road section and cover an additional 130 km. The imposition of such improper collection by the Nepali side in case of cost overruns by the Nepali importers has further burdened the indigenous industries and businesses and tarnished Nepal's reputation at the international level as well.
