Children aging 15 months to 15 years will be vaccinated under against typhoid in Rupandehi from April 7 to 8.
According to Bheshraj Sharma, immunization officer of the health office, there are 266,518 children in the district. A campaign will be launched for them from 966 vaccination centers. A total of 1,333 health workers, 966 teachers, 158 supervisors, 11 district supervisors and 6 aid organizations will be mobilized for the campaign. Most of the vaccination centers have been set up in schools due to the vaccination campaign being targeted at children.
The vaccination campaign will be conducted in other districts of Lumbini, Kapilvastu and Nawalparasi, from April 7 and in Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Palpa and Rolpa from April 8. Similarly, vaccination campaigns will be launched in Rukumpur, Arghakhanchi and Pyuthan from April 10. Roshan Lal Chaudhary, director of the Lumbini Provincial Health Directorate, said that the campaign would be conducted on different dates as per the convenience of the district concerned.
It is said that vaccination is being conducted for the first time in Nepal to prevent typhoid disease caused by contaminated water and food.
