Violence against women should be stopped: Minister Regmi

Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Uma Regmi has said she would work to stop the incidents like violence, killing and rape against women.

She said this while talking to journalists today. On the occasion, Minister Regmi vowed to dedicate herself to stop crimes against women and children by implementing the existing laws and even by amending them if necessary.

Also the central president of Nepal Women Association, the sister organisation of the Nepali Congress, the Minister said change was not possible in the nation until there is 50 per cent participation of women in the political parties and the government bodies.

"There should be 50 percent representation of women for building an equitable society," she stressed.

On another note, the Minister said the ministry will work to provide allowances to the disabled people and the senior citizens at their doorstep.

She also said that initiatives would be taken to immediately immunize children against coronavirus infection as they were at high risk.

Minister Regmi added that her Ministry would carry out works to free the streets of beggars as well.
