A central-level discussion has been held in the federal capital on the initiatives, achievements and learning of the youth-friendly local governance.
The discussion was held on the occasion of International Youth Day on Thursday. Investment in and capacity building of youths for good governance at the local level has been stressed on the occasion. It was held with joint initiatives of the National Youth Council, Jagrit Child Club and Youth Concern Nepal, UNDP and UNICEF.
Vice Chairperson of the National Youth Council, Surendra Basnet, said it is time to pay heed to youths' role in policy making. More investment is required in the sector of youths, he said, adding that the Council was working for creating an atmosphere favourable for it.
Resident Representative of the UNDP, Ayshanie Medagangoda-Labé, said youths were in need of an atmosphere where their concerns are addressed.
Similarly, Chairperson of Jagrit Child and Youth Concern Nepal, Tilottam Poudel, viewed the stakeholders concerned could play a cooperative role in making effective the youth-friendly campaign.
