The general impact of westerly wind as well as the partial influence of local wind has caused rainfall in various parts of the country including Kathmandu Valley at present.
The hilly areas of the country remained partial to general cloudy today, according to the Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
Meteorologist Ganga Nagarkoti said that although the westerly wind was a bit weak, the local wind was active and there was light to moderate rainfall coupled with lightning, thunderstorm, and strong wind in hilly areas at present.
There's a likelihood of intermittent rainfall in addition to lightning and thunderstorm in the afternoon for a few more days since pre-monsoon is already active in the country, added Nagarkoti.
The weather in the Terai belt will, however, remain clear during these days.
The Kathmandu Valley recorded light rainfall in the evening. Morning and evening were slightly cold. The minimum temperature of Kathmandu Valley was 8 degree Celsius while the maximum was 24 degrees Celsius, according to the Department.
Tonight, the weather in hilly areas will be partial to generally cloudy while there's a possibility of intermittent rainfall coupled with thunderstorms and lightning in a couple of places in the remaining parts of the country.
The Department forecasted that weather in hilly areas will be partial to generally cloudy on Monday while there will be brief rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning in a few higher places in Koshi Province and Gandaki Province and a couple of places in Bagmati, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Province.
