A woman died in an elephant attack at Madhuban of Barahakshetra Municipality-11 in Sunsari district on Monday.

The victim was 65-year old local Mamani Devi Khatwe, according to District Police Office, Sunsari.

Police Inspector Subash Bhattarai informed that Khatwe was attacked by an elephant while she was collecting grass. She died on the way to the hospital, according to a local Raj Kumar Shah.

The elephant came prowling from nearby Koshitappu Wildlife Reserve.
