Gandaki Province Chief, Sita Kumari Poudel, has said the practice of Yoga and meditation helps to keep the mind and body sound and thus to live a healthy life.
Extending good wishes on the occasion of the 7th International Day of Yoga today, she stressed on the importance of yoga practice and meditation to have a positive attitude and good thoughts in one’s life. Stating that yoga helps to cultivate positive thinking within self, the Province Chief said, "Yoga is not related with any religion, it is related to body and nature instead.’’
“Purity of soul is the take-off point of yoga and there is no alternative to it to attain virtue in life,” she added. The Province Chief was of the view that if the new generation could imbibe yoga and meditation practices promoted by their ancestors, they would be able to get rid of major diseases and ailments and live a healthy life.
The message further highlights the importance of yoga to live a healthy and stress-free lifestyle, underlining the need for a healthy diet and positive thinking in the current context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Similarly, on the occasion of Music Day, Province Chief Poudel wished that all Nepalis may have energy to lead a healthy life with positive thoughts.
June 21 each year is celebrated as the International Day of Yoga since 2015 following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly a previous year.
