A youth has been arrested on the charge of a rape attempt in Chitwan district.
The arrested has been identified as Mahendra Sapkota (27) of Rapti Municipality-7 in the district.
Sapkota approached a 17-year-old girl who was cutting grass from behind and covered her mouth and tried to rape her, at around 4:30 pm, on Friday, according to spokesperson of Chitwan District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Surya Bahadur Thapa.
The girl, however, managed to scream following which the neighbours came for help and held Sapkota until police arrived, DSP Thapa informed.
Meanwhile, investigtion into the case is underway, police informed.
