Agreement reached between government, Biplab-led CPN

An agreement has been signed between the government and the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) to resolve all political matters through dialogues. 

Issuing a joint press statement today, coordinator of government talks team, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, and coordinator of talks team of Chand-led group, Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma, today informed in this regard. 

With the agreement, the Chand-led group will run all its activities peacefully and the ban imposed by the government on its activities has been lifted.

The statement mentioned the lifting of the ban imposed upon activities of Chand-led group, releasing its all detainees and withdrawing the cases.

Details of the agreement would be made public at 2:00 pm on Friday amid a function, according to the deal. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the CPN general secretary Chand will address the event. 

Earlier on Wednesday, there was a series of dialogues between the CPN and the government talks team at Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar. Separate talks committees led by Home Minister Thapa from the government and Bishwokarma from the CPN side were made public on Tuesday.  

The talks team members were PM Oli's foreign affairs advisor Rajan Bhattarai from the government's side and Deepak from CPN. 

The government on March 12, 2019 had banned activities of the group terming them violent ones.
