Chief Whip of the CPN (Maoist Center) Karnali Pradesh Sabha Thammar Bista has been suspended. A meeting chaired by Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, leader of the state assembly party and former chief minister, on March 16 directed him to withdraw his resignation and resume his regular work.
In a press statement issued today, Shahi said that Chief Whip Bista has been suspended from the party.
Chief Whip Bista had resigned from the post on March 10. According to Article 180 (a) of the Constitution of Nepal, the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly has resigned. According to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, the post became vacant after Bista's resignation was accepted and the Maoist centre was suspended.
