The CPN UML has decided to seek clarification from 11 former lawmakers belonging to the party. The standing committee meeting of the party held at Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar on Saturday accused them of involving in the signature campaign for the opposition party to remove party Chairman KP Sharma Oli from the prime ministerial post.

UML Spokesperson Pradeep Kumar Gyawali informed that leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal, Bhim Bahadur Rawal, Kalyani Khadka, Ram Kumari Jhankri, Sarala Yadav, Mukunda Nepal, Pushpa Kumari Karna, Kalila Khan, Nira Devi Jairu and Laxmi Kumari Chaudhary. Gyawali said the further decision will be taken based on the clarification they submit.

They are asked to furnish clarification within two days. A serious discussion was held in the meeting that they involved in the game of weakening the communist party and toppling the own party government.

Twenty-six lawmakers belonging to the UML faction led by Madhav Kumar Nepal had signed in favour of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, proposing him as new prime minister. "It cannot be imagined that UML lawmakers involved in signature campaign to make NC President Deuba the new prime minister at a time when voice is raised from across the country for unity within the party. Even the taskforce was functioning. However, they involved in the signature for the opposition party," he mentioned.

Earlier, the UML had sought clarification from some leaders. Among them, leader Nepal, Rawal, Ghanashyam Bhushal and Surendra Pande, who were taken action, were pardoned.

Gyawali further claimed that as the taskforce was working well, some leaders within the party created the problem. The PM had believed that friends who did a blunder by being absent in the parliament on May 10 would not repeat it, he added.

The meeting also decided to concentrate its efforts to fight coronavirus.
