CM Pokharel briefs province’s progress to PM Deuba

A delegation led by the Chief Minister of Gandaki Province called on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at the official residence of the PM at Baluwatar on Sunday.

The team led by CM Krishnachandra Nepali Pokharel briefed PM Deuba about the current state of Gandaki Province and the issues facing the leadership there. CM Pokharel shared that many development projects of the province suffered budget crunch and there was not proper land to initiate and run those projects.

The delegation comprising Province’s Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Kumar Khadka, Minister for Finance Ramji Prasad Baral and Minister for Tourism, Commerce and Supplies Madibhadra Sharma Kandel, among others.

In response, PM Deuba said that the federal government was moving ahead with limited resources. He, however, pledged utmost support to the Province for its prosperity, according to Secretariat of the CM.

The PM also mentioned that all seven provinces had demanded budget and the federal government would allocate the budget considering its resources and after consulting the Minister of Finance, the Secretariat said in a press statement.

In a letter submitted by CM Pokharel to PM Deuba, the CM stated that the Province recorded decrease in its internal income due to COVID-19 and in lack of adequate fund, it was difficult for the provincial government to meet the developmental needs of the Province.
