Election Officer Kamal Mohan Pokharel, who was tasked to convene the Nepali Congress convention in Chitwan, has resigned. He submitted a letter of resignation to the Central Election Committee coordinator.
Pokharel said in his resignation letter that he was unable to convene the district convention saying that his health condition was unfavorable. He has urged the Central Election Committee to accept his resignation. Pokharel was tasked with holding elections for various levels of ward, municipality, state assembly, constituency and district committee of Chitwan.
The Congress district convention, which has been shifting time and time again, was scheduled to be held from today. Candidate registration was scheduled for today and voting was scheduled for the 19th. "Following the directives of the Central Election Committee, I have successfully conducted the election at all levels except the District Working Committee with the support and coordination of all parties," Pokharel said in his resignation letter.
