Addressing a mass gathering organised by the faction of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by its chairman KP Sharma Oli, in Durbarmarga, Kathmandu today, PM Oli said the country has moved to hold election that will decide whom to give a mandate.

Referring to Dahal-Nepal faction of NCP, PM made the satirical remark, “The election will invite crises in the country says splinter group.” Further, he also questioned them, “will it?”

In his address to the mass gathering, the PM mentioned about the development works undertaken by the government. He talked about various ongoing road construction projects, agricultural modernisation projects and employment programmes. Throughout his speech, the supporters cheered at his remarks.

PM Oli said that the unemployed youths will not have to go to foreign countries in search of jobs as the government has brought in Prime Minister Employment Programme (PMEP).

On a different note, he said, another faction’s move to threaten the Election Commission to stop preparing for the election was the real unconstitutional move rather than the government’s move to dissolve the House of Representatives.

Tens of thousands of supporters, leaders and cadres of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) attended the mass gathering.

The activists and supporters from various parts of the country assembled at the mass gathering before taking out the rallies from 13 various points in the Kathmandu valley in support of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The stage was set on the road while the road dividers were removed in preparation for the mass gathering.

On the occasion, Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa said the mass gathering organised in front of the Narayanhiti Palace was historic. Minister Thapa, also secretariat member of the party, stressed leading the country towards developmental and prosperity through elections.

Home Minister Thapa argued that this critical situation occurred in the party due to conspiracy hatched to sack the party leadership and create instability. He added that the greedy groups led the party into split and it could be defeated only by the people therefore they came to the people.

He argued that the constitution could not be ensured only through protest but it could be safeguarded through elections.

The Home Minister urged all to be united for national independence.

Likewise, Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel said that the government has decided to go for the general election for taking fresh mandate from people as there is no bigger judge other than the people in a democracy.

He called on the party rank and file to get ready for the election.

Stating that the NCP led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is the authentic NCP, he expressed the belief that their party would get the 'Sun' as the election symbol. He added that the present struggle was for giving stability to the nation and not for power. "Prime Minister Oli's aspiration is to free the country of the drawn-out instability and take it ahead on the path of economic prosperity and development," he said.

DPM Pokharel said the PM was compelled to dissolve the House of Representatives as he met with non-cooperation from within the party when he was taking the country towards the path of development and prosperity.

"We have opted to go for the election with the intention of accepting the people's final verdict through their votes," he said, adding that it is the people who will decide everything through the vote.

The Deputy Prime Minister charged the NCP Dahal-Nepal faction of threatening the Election Commission not to move ahead of the election programmes.

DPM Pokharel said continuity would be given to political stability by fighting against such adversities no matter whatever the situation to defend the constitution and attain the national aspiration of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali'.

Meanwhile, Dahal-Nepal faction is also going to hold the mass gathering in Kathmandu next Wednesday.

The Dahal-Nepal faction had enforced general strike in the country the day before as the PM's mass gathering had been scheduled for Friday.
