The CPN (Maoist Centre) has laid emphasis on the need of electing a President on the basis of national consensus.
In the Standing Committee meeting of the Party held at the Party Headquarters in Parisdanda on Friday, the party stressed the need of electing the Head of the State on the basis of national consensus. Most of the speakers in the meeting said although the President has a constitutional role, it is necessary to elect the all-acceptable person to this post, said the party’s Vice-Chairman and Spokesperson, Krishna Bahadur Mahara.
“We are holding discussions with political parties to build a national consensus in this regard”, he mentioned.
On the occasion, Vice-Chairman Mahara presentCPN ed a report regarding the issues of the discussion held for the party unification with other political parties in the recent period.
Similarly, Deputy General Secretaries-- Janardan Sharma and Giriraj Mani Pokharel-- presented the reports related to party organization and schooling respectively. The standing committee will meet next on January 30.
