Two ministers representing CPN (Maoist Centre) in the Gandaki Province government have tendered resignation from their position on Wednesday.

Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Hari Bahadur Chuman and Minister for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives Lekh Bahadur Thapa have resigned from their respective posts.

Minister Chuman shared that he quit his position as per the decision of the CPN (Maoist Centre)’s parliamentary party and submitted the letter of resignation to Chief Minister of the Province, Prithivi Subba Gurung.

The CPN (Maoist Centre) decided to pull itself out of the government in the wake of the split of Nepal Communist Party into CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Centre) as it would pose an ethical question to protest the government’s activities while being in the government, according to Chuman.

Chuman said that his party was actively working towards the implementation of agendas such as federalism, religious secularism and inclusive proportionate representation among others.

Similarly, Minister Thapa shared that new laws were formulated while 46 archaic laws saw amendments during his stint as the provincial minister. He said that he spared no effort to enforce the constitution while assuming the ministerial position.
