The Standing Committee meeting of the CPN UML that was to take place today has been halted. The meeting was supposed to be held at 10 am at the prime minister’s residence in Baluwatar but citing reasons of the by-election to the National Assembly the meeting has been cancelled.
Apparently, the meeting was supposed to be held on Sunday at 5 pm but was postponed to this morning.
It has been reported that the meeting is likely to take a decision regarding the clarifications the party had sought from 12 lawmakers.
The CPN-UML had sent a letter on May 27 to 12 party lawmakers of the now-dissolved House of Representatives seeking clarifications from them within 24 hours. The Standing Committee meeting of the party held on May 24 had decided to expel 11 of its lawmakers from the party and seek clarifications from the remaining 12.
The 23 lawmakers had supported the opposition parties to form a new government.
