The meeting of the taskforce that was formed to forge unity within the CPN UML will be continued this evening. It will be held at 7 pm.
Earlier today, the taskforce had held a meeting at the Ministry of Finance. Subas Nembang, one of the members of the taskforce, mentioned that the discussions held earlier were on a positive note. He added that further discussions need to be held to come to a definite conclusion and the taskforce would likely come with a decision by tonight.
Another member of the taskforce, Gokarna Bista, also said that the talks held earlier were positive. He stated that the meeting was held based on the conversations that had taken place between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the chairperson of CPN UML, and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal. He added that there had been progress in talks and a decision will likely be taken by this evening.
The taskforce has been holding talks continuously since Monday. PM Oli and Nepal had also held a meeting on Wednesday regarding the issue of forging unity within the party.
The 10-member taskforce comprises of Surendra Pandey, Bhim Rawal, Ghanashyam Bhusal, Gokarna Bista, and Raghuji Pant from Nepal’s faction. Similarly, Subas Nembang, Bishnu Rimal, Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Shankar Pokhrel, and Pradeep Gyawali are representing the Oli faction.
