Democratic National Disability Organization Nepal has demanded that the date of local elections be announced soon.
Jagdish Prasad Adhikari, general secretary of the organization, issued a statement today drawing attention to the fact that the government has not announced the election date even after the expiration of the term of the local level which is concerned with the service facilities of the common people for the protection of the constitution and democracy. The concern is being expressed that the term of the local level people's representatives will end on May 19, 2079, BS as per the constitution of Nepal and if the local level election cannot be held before that time, there will be a vacancy of the people's representatives. The organization has also demanded to amend the Local Level Election Act, 2073 BS to include the issue of disability.
