Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said the provincial government is making a conscious effort to follow the path laid by the martyrs while highly regarding their sacrifice for the nation’s welfare.
Chief Minister Gurung stated this in a message extended on the occasion of Martyrs Day today.
"The four great martyrs who laid down their lives in the struggle for the establishment of democracy by overthrowing the Rana autocracy in 1997 BS and all the martyrs who received martyrdom in the course of various movements for restoration of democracy and establishment of the federal democratic republic remain the ideal guides for the country," he stated.
On the occasion, Gurung also stressed the need to deepen the relations among the three tiers of government in accordance with the letter and spirit of the constitution and as per the principle of co-existence, cooperation and coordination. He noted that true tribute to the martyrs would be to fulfil the national aspiration of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali'.
Chief Minister Gurung further said he was hopeful that the Martyrs Day would inspire all Nepalis, political parties and the civil society to be united to achieve prosperity for the country.
