Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has said the government was working actively to maintain good governance and improve service delivery.
Presenting a response on behalf of the Prime Minister on the issues relating to the public institutions including the President's Office and PM's Office, Minister Karki informed that as per government policy and programmes, the use of IT would be expanded to ensure prompt and effective service delivery. It would help maintain electronic good governance.
He informed that the government was committed to curbing revenue leakage, money laundering, and illegal procurement and assure development and prosperity.
The constitutional bodies would be equipped with resources, and the constitution implemented effectively. The coordination and cooperation among the three tiers of government is an equal priority according to him. "There will be electronic documentation and archive of the decisions of the Council of Ministers," he said, adding that an integrated monitoring system was put in place at OPMCM.
The spending system would be based on results and optimum use of resources. The problems that surfaced in the national pride projects would be solved immediately to intensify the works.
The National Planning Commission was restructured with federalism in place. NPC has been coordinating with development partners and forwarding the programs relating to SDGs.
According to the government spokesperson, Nepal-India relations are multidimensional and area of cooperation between the two countries broad and diverse. The promotion in energy sector is a significant dimension of bilateral cooperation, he reminded. Currently, some 364MW electricity is being exported to India from Nepal.
In response to a query put forth by the lawmakers, the government spokesperson informed that as a member of the UN and state party to various treaties and conventions relating to human rights, Nepal has been building the capacity of the Office of the Attorney General by framing necessary programmes so that it could be able to submit Nepal's reports to various UN bodies in time.
Minister Karki further said the Nepal government has not taken any decision to join the US' state partnership programme (SPP) and not thought of it either. He also viewed it as the natural process of international relations to exchange high-level bilateral visits with the countries having diplomatic relations. He said it in response to a lawmaker's query relating to PM upcoming visit to the US.
