The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved four ordinances amid obstruction by the main opposition party, the CPN-UML. The House of Representatives has approved Nepal Police and State Police (Operation, Supervision and Coordination), First Amendment Ordinance, Acid and Other Hazardous Chemicals (Regulation) Ordinance 2078 and Social Security (First Amendment) Ordinance 2078 and Railway Ordinance 2078.

Earlier on Tuesday, the meeting had approved Ordinance 2078 to amend Acts against Sexual Violence and Ordinance and acts related to Criminal Offenses and Criminal Procedure.

As soon as the meeting of the House of Representatives started, UML lawmakers surrounded the bell and chanted slogans. However, Speaker Agni Sapkota adjourned the proceedings. Nepal Majdur Kisan Party MP Prem Suwal had informed about the protest against the ordinance. But his protest was rejected by a majority.

After the approval of the ordinance, the House of Representatives has been adjourned till January 2.
