Mahendra Bahadur Shahi of CPN (Maoist Centre) has been elected to the House of Representatives from Kalikot district. Shahi was a ruling coalition candidate from the district.
Shahi defeated his closest rival Nagendra Shahi of CPN (UML) with a margin of over 6,000 votes. He collected 23,078 votes while Nagendra secured 16,230, according to the Office of the chief returning officer in the district.
Similarly, Rastriya Prajatantra Party's Dhan Bahadur Buda finished third in the election with 1,563 votes.
Out of the total 46,669 votes cast in the district, 2,041 votes were invalid, shared chief returning officer Bharat Lamsal.
