Names of ministers from Janata Samajbadi Party finalised

The names of the lawmakers from the Mahanta Thakur-led faction of Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal who will be appointed ministers have been finalised.

Thakur had been in a meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli this afternoon to hold talks regarding the JSP joining the government. As soon as the talks were over, Thakur informed the lawmakers of his faction that the discussions with PM Oli were positive and that the JSP would be joining the government.

As per the agreement with PM Oli, Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal will be allocated eight federal ministerial berths and two state ministerial positions.

According to a source, Rajendra Mahato will be appointed deputy prime minister. He will also be handling the Ministry of Urban Development. Similarly, Sarat Singh Bhandari is likely to be appointed Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and Anil Jha will be appointed Minister of Water Supply and Sanitation.

An agreement has also been reached to appoint Laxman Lal Karna as Minister of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation while Bimal Srivastav will handle the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security. Similarly, Uma Shankar Argariya will be appointed Minister of Forests and Environment and Chanda Chaudhary as Minister of Women, Children and Social Welfare.

Meanwhile, Iqbal Miya will be appointed Minister of Youth and Sports. Likewise, Chandrakant Chaudhary will be appointed State Minister of Energy and Renuka Gurung as State Minister of Energy.

As per the source, the ministers will likely be administered the oath of office and secrecy at 6 pm today.
