The government of Japan will offer decorations to the senior leader of the Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Poudel.
The Japanese Embassy is conferring 'Grand Cordon of Order of the Rising Sun' on Poudel by organizing a special program at Poudel's residence at 3:00 pm today. The decoration was announced on April 29, 2020.
Leader Poudel will be honored for his contribution to having activated the contacts between parliamentarians of Nepal and Japan as well as strengthening the relations between both countries, it has been said.
The Nepal-Japan Friendly Parliamentary League was established in 1999 on the initiatives of leader Poudel. He also served as the first chair of the League until 2017.
He was actively involved in the promotion of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The honor will be handed to the personalities for their contribution to the promotion of political, diplomatic, research, education, medical and social welfare, economy, industry, culture, and sports between the two countries.
