Ram Sharan Bhandari of the Nepali Congress, the common candidate from the ruling five-party alliance, has registered his victory in the post of mayor of Panauti municipality in Kavrepalanchowk district.
Similarly, the CPN (UML)'s Geeta Banjara has been elected deputy mayor.
Bhandari received 14,050 votes while his closest rival Bhim Neupane of the CPN (UML) got 11,783 votes. Banjara secured 12,337 votes while her closest competitor Chhabi Lal Humagain of the CPN (Unified Socialist) collected 10,338 votes.
The Nepali Congress has got victory in four wards, UML in seven wards and CPN (Unified Socialist) in one ward of Panauti municipality.
