Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has suggested the Election Commission to move forward with the election process with alacrity.

This suggestion by the NCP representatives was made during a consultation convened in Kathmandu today by the Election Commission to discuss on the necessary preparations for the election to the House of Representatives and regarding party registration.

On the occasion, the party representatives urged the Election Commission to start the party registration process to hold the election in the stipulated time.

Party leaders Subas Chandra Nembang, ministers Bishnu Prasad Poudel and Krishna Gopal Shrestha, Bagmati provincial government minister Rameshwor Phuyal, lawmaker Bimala Poudel, advocate Baburam Dahal and Ramesh Badal were present in the discussion.

Talking to media after the meeting, Nembang said, the Election Commission has reached a conclusion regarding the party's legality and it will move ahead with the remaining procedures based on the same.

"Election is our priority and it should be held on the stipulated date. The party chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is concerned about this. He is seriously working to hold the election on April 30 and May 10. He has urged all the parties to prepare for the election," he said.

During the meeting, Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya informed the participants about the preparations the Election Commission has made in connection with the election.

Election Commissioner Ishwori Prasad Poudyal shared the commission's expectations from the political parties and the objective of the meeting. He added that the commission had been making preparations to hold the election on the set date. Poudyal reiterated that the political parties are expected to fully cooperate in holding the election successfully.

Mentioning that the political parties had the responsibility to create an appropriate political environment to hold the elections, he shared that the EC would organise a meeting again at an appropriate time.

On the occasion, representatives of the NCP (NCP) expressed their commitment that the party would provide all necessary support to hold the mid-term elections and they will be present at any time if the commission invites them, EC Spokesperson Rajan Kumar Shrestha informed.

Although the EC had invited the chairpersons of both the factions of NCP or representatives assigned by the respective chairpersons as well as those involved in looking after law and election, the Dahal-Nepal faction had written to EC stating that it could not attend the meeting as both its chairpersons, Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal, were out of Kathmandu Valley.

Party leaders Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Leelamani Pokharel and Mukti Pradhan had reached the EC office on Friday morning and informed in this regard.

The EC had called NCP leaders to hold a discussion on preparations for upcoming elections and registration of political parties.
