The Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction of the CPN UML has decided not to withdraw their signatures from the writ petition filed at the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the House of Representatives. The Nepal faction has stated that unless it has been proven that the move to dissolve the House was wrong it will not withdraw the signatures.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the chairperson of CPN UML, had on Sunday issued a six-point proposal to maintain unity within the party. The fourth point in the proposal mentions that the signatures in the writ filed at the Supreme Court would be withdrawn.

However, the Nepal faction has maintained that the proposal to withdraw the signatures from the writ filed to reinstate the House of Representatives is a wrong proposal. A virtual meeting of the Standing Committee members of the Nepal faction was held today to discuss on PM Oli’s proposal and to seek a way forward.
