Nepali Congress has postponed the rural-municipal ward convention under the 14th General Convention due to a delay in the finalisation of active membership.

Today's meeting of the Congress office bearers and former office bearers has decided to postpone the rural-municipal ward convention scheduled for July 27, NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma informed.

He said the decision will be taken on the new date for the ward convention after Ramesh Lekhak, coordinator of the active membership probe committee submit the report of the committee to the central leadership on July 27.

Earlier, the NC had decided to approve the list of active members of the party by the party president before submitting it to the Central Election Committee by July 14.

However, due to disputes in some districts, the work has not been completed yet. As a result, the general convention schedule has been affected.

The meeting held at the residence of NC President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha discussed holding the central convention on a stipulated date and the possibility of changing the schedules for the general convention.

A meeting of the party's central working committee held on June 18 had passed the revised schedule for the 14th general convention to be held in Kathmandu from September 1 to 4.

As per the revised schedule, the rural municipal ward convention has been scheduled for July 27, the rural municipal convention for July 31 and the provincial assembly regional convention for August 4.

Similarly, the regional convention of the House of Representatives in the district having only one constituency will be held on August 7 and in the district having more than one constituency will be held August 10. Likewise, the provincial convention has been scheduled for August 17 and 18.
