Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also chairperson of CPN UML, has mentioned that those party members who did not cast their votes in his favour during the vote of confidence and supported the opposition leader as the candidate for prime minister had acted irresponsible and against the party’s disciplinary norms.

While delivering his speech to mark the third National Women’s Rights Day, PM Oli vented his ire at the party lawmakers who did not vote for him in the House of Representatives and supported Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to become the prime minister. He mentioned that this act was highly deplorable and probably happened for the first time in world history.

However, Oli did not take any names while giving his speech. He further added that he had never witnessed such an act whereby party members had switched their allegiance to the opposition and gone against the party’s collective decision. He also mentioned that crossing the House floor and nominating a leader from the opposition to become the prime minister was unheard of.

The prime minister also alleged that by going against the party’s decision the concerned lawmakers had actually betrayed the trust of the citizens. He also stated that these lawmakers also gone against the pledges they had made while taking the oath of office.
