The Election Commission is awarding election symbols to the candidates for the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections today.
The election symbol of the candidates of the nationally recognized political parties will be the same as before, while the independent candidates will be asked by the Commission to choose one of the symbols.
Election Commission spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Paudel informed that the time for distribution of election symbols has been fixed from 4 pm to 7 pm today.
Before that, the commission will publish the final list of candidates. For that, the time is fixed from 1 pm to 3 pm.
If someone withdraws his/her candidature before the final list is published, he/she can take it. The time for withdrawal of nominations is today from 10 AM to 1 PM.
The political party leaders are continuing their efforts to withdraw their candidatures as the dissatisfied people have nominated their candidates from the tickets distributed by the party.
The top leaders of the ruling coalition issued a joint notice on Monday and asked the rebel candidates to withdraw their candidature by 1 pm today. They have also warned that they will be expelled from the party if they do not withdraw.
