Scores of CPN UML leaders abandon Nepal-led faction during registration of new party

Scores of CPN UML leaders abandoned the party faction led by Madhav Kumar Nepal as the faction applied for a new party registration at the Election commission, on Wednesday.

CPN UML members including Yubaraj Gyawali, Bhim Bahadur Rawal, Asta Laxmi Shakya, Ghanashyam Bhusal, Gokarna Bista, Surendra Pandey, Yogesh Bhattarai, Raghuji Panta, and Amrit Kumar Bohora.

Likewise, other leaders including Thakur Gaire, Arun Nepal, Parshuram Meghi, Shree Maya Thakali, Jeevan Ghimire, Tanka Karki, Mamata Giri, Yagya Raj Sunuwar, Sita Giri, Naresh Kharel, Jhapat Rawal, Kamal Jung Rai Danuwar, Ganesh Pahadi, Prakash Shah, Madhav Aryal, Rachana Khadka, Rajan Rai, Raj Bahadur Budha, Surendra Manandhar, Krishna Khanal, Hari Bhadur Rai, Rabin Koirala, Kedar Neupane, Som Prasad Pandey, and Bhanubhakta Joshi have also abandoned the dissident faction of CPN UML.

Moreover, CPN UML Vice-chairperson Bamdev Gautam has not affirmed the formation of the new party. Likewise, Jhalanath Khanal has not confirmed his support for the registration of the new party yet. Leader Pradeep Nepal has asserted that he has neither supported the Oli-led faction nor the Nepal-led faction.

Veduram Bhusal and Mukunda Neupane are the only CPN UML Standing Committee members to support the Nepal-led faction in the registration of the new Party.

The Nepal faction formally split from the CPN UML and applied for party registration under the name, CPN UML (Socialist), on Wednesday.
