It has been reported that UML has put pressure to reinstate Rabi Lamichhane as Home Minister. Lamichanne had resigned from the position due to the citizenship dispute.
A source close to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal confirmed this and informed that Baluwatar is not in favor of immediate reinstatement.
According to sources, UML president KP Oli called Dahal and gave this suggestion.
Today, UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel said that the case against Former Home Minister is normal and accused them of trying to use it to change the political equation of Nepal. Questioning the court's decision, Pokharel defended Lamichhane by asserting that there is no other system to re-acquire citizenship for citizens who come to Nepal after giving up PR and Green Card.
Lamichhane, who lost his position in both the government and the party two days ago, has today regained his citizenship from the Kathmandu administration.
